After a few last nips and tucks, I take delivery on Tuesday of my new limb. If they do no more than toss it into a shopping bag, I'll be glad – no, overjoyed -- to have it. It is preternaturally pink in color, (I'm in pretty good shape, but not that good.) which I guess passes for flesh-colored in the prosthetics business. No matter: I shall wear and protect it as long as it will have me.
Now begins some heavy duty outpatient therapy at The RISB to get the rest of me used to the new limb. (I'm going to have to find a name for it; all suggestions welcome.) From all sides I hear how arduous that will be. All I ask for is regular progress. Stay attuned.
